Class Descriptions & Pricing
Ballet and Pointe– Develop the fundamentals of dance through control, poise, precision, fluency and grace using the technique and style of ballet. This class aims to improve body alignment, vocabulary, and correct positions of the legs, arms, feet and head. Our one of a kind Ballet program teaches Checchetti, The French method, RAD, and Vaganova methods as well as classical Variations from well known Ballets. Ms. Miranda has an in-depth knowledge of Ballet vocabulary and definitions of terms. Students will take written ballet exams every year to show progress of their ballet knowledge as it is more than just learning the movement. Students will participate in an original Story Ballet every year which includes, acting coaching, pantomime and various ethnic character dances! Ballet is the fundamental technique for all styles of dance. Our professionally trained staff is known for making our ballet classes really fun, creative and educational. *Pointe classes require instructor approval and enrollment in 2 Ballet technique classes per week.
Modern– Our unique Modern technique program covers the styles of Jose Limon, Lester Horton, Merce Cunningham, Katherine Dunham and Martha Graham. Our focus is on developing fundamentals; including asymmetry of the body, moving off-center, working with internal rotation, movement of the spine in all planes, yielding to gravity, floor work and improvisation. This class explores concepts of partnering (contact improvisation), composition, conditioning, dance history and theory. We prepare our dancers for a professional dance future for college and Modern dance companies.
Cyr Wheel- Roue Cyr for dancers. My focus in Cyr wheel has always been as a dancer; how can I dance with this wheel, how can I create a line that is as complete or more so than we strive for in dance? My class will aim to help dancers broaden their skill set and allow them access to another dimension of movement! We will focus on the basics of wheel manipulation and exploration of negative space as well as how to create the illusion of ease and lightness while moving the wheel. In this class we will also learn the basics of how to center spin on the wheel as well as waltz to keep it going. Tricks and inversions will not be introduced until the student is proficient in both wheel manipulation and center spins, however those who desire to can begin to learn cartwheels with a spot.
To Know:
– clothes are to be comfortable and easy to move in, as one would wear to modern class. NO pants longer than the ankle. Shoes are permitted, however the shoes MUST be either dance shoes or flat-soled shoes specifically for class, no street shoes allowed on the dance floor!

Jazz– Jazz class will focus on coordination, flexibility, isolations of the body, and improving performance quality by developing an awareness of complex rhythms and patterns. We just love an excuse to show off our dancer’s sassy personalities! Using fun, upbeat, energetic music, students will be exposed to various styles of jazz to help develop a well-rounded dancer. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, turns, across-the-floor progressions, leaps and combinations.
Lyrical– These classes are for dancers who are proficient in classical ballet technique. Warm-up exercises will focus on improving flexibility, extension, core strength, and balance. Center work will include both lyrical and contemporary steps and combinations that will incorporate the technical elements of ballet, jazz and modern dance. This class encourages self-expression through subtle and dynamic movement. We will focus on conveying musicality and emotion to tell a story through their dancing based on musical interpretation and Choreography. *Lyrical requires enrollment in a Ballet technique class
Tap– Tap teaches an awareness of beat, timing, and rhythm. It is a fun and exciting class used to improve musicality and coordination. MZ Dance company offers a Broadway tap style but also acknowledges rhythmic or hoofer styles as well. Students in this class will learn tap terminology as well as the execution of the terms to enable them to identify sound, count, and style. No other technique is required as it’s never too late to learn to tap dance!
Musical Theater Jazz- Structured just like musical theatre dance classes at NYC studios, students learn Broadway themed choreography from all styles of musical theatre. This class is designed for dramatic students that want to learn a combination of musical theatre dance, ballet technique, jazz, and multiple Broadway show styles. In the performing business, theater auditions are your tests, and dance classes are where you study. Whether you are preparing for professional auditions in New York, school auditions, or your next local school musical, our musical theatre dance program will get you to where you want to be!
Hip Hop– Hip-hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip hop music which has evolved as part of hip hop culture. It includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking, locking, popping, tutting and B-boying (breakdancing) which were created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States. Students will be exposed to multiple styles of hip hop dance! Original choreography will be taught, allowing students to discover their own hip hop style in a stress-free and fun environment, encouraging confidence building, independent creativity, and teamwork.
Acro / Tumbling- is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements such as contortion, walkovers and handsprings to chin stands and partner hand balancing. It is defined by its athletic character, and it’s unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics. It is a popular dance style in professional dance theaters and in contemporary Circus productions such as those by Cirque Du Soleil. This class is an excellent addition to your dance repertoire!
Ballet and Tap Combo– This creative movement class is for our tiny aspiring dancers ages 3-4 and 5-6. These classes are an excellent introduction to the art of dance by blending movement, music, improvisation, and basic Ballet and Tap dance skills. Students learn these dance fundamentals while improving motor skills, timing, self-expression, coordination, confidence, and imagination as well as the importance of good dance etiquette; taking turns, following directions, classroom structure and social development. We highly recommend to start your little ones with this class!
Aerial Arts – In Aerial classes you will learn how to safely build your foundation of aerial training by learning on the ground and then bringing it up in the air. Basic climbs, foot locks, simple sequences and flows are some of the skills you will learn. Classes also include warm ups, stretching and conditioning.
Hula Hoop – Hula hooping is an embodied movement practice. It provides excellent fitness for the body and a meditation-like state for the mind. Much like dance, hooping increases coordination, grace in movement, core strength, tones the muscles and improves cardiovascular fitness. We even like to create a story with our hooping routine for performances. It is perfect for overall mind/body health. And creativity. Most importantly, it is fun!
Adult Classes– We offer a unique 18+ adult class program in the styles of Ballet and Aerial. Tuition will be offered as a punch card, or individual Drop-ins.
